Metal Shaping Basics and Hand Forming Course

Learn how to make basic patch panels and metal shaping techniques that can be carried out in your home garage.
All these techniques anyone can do and without the outlay of overly expensive machinery to get you started.
As a “HANDS ON” course and with small class sizes that offers plenty of individual instruction and is open to all interested persons with the will to learn.
This is a one day course 8am to 4.30pm.

Course syllabus

Basic Hammering Techniques
On-dolly, used for stretching of metal
Off -dolly, used to equalize highs and lows on a panel.
Forming and turning over an edge.
Making and edge on a patch panel with a curve in it
The technique of turning over a door skin to door frame.
Mudguard wire edging technique
Metal forming techniques
How to create a basic contour with a sand bag and mallet
The method of using a bench, wooden stump
Smoothing out the ripples by hand planishing and filing.
Using all these techniques you have learned, you will make a small project.

This course is available to those who have completed our Metal Shaping Basics and Hand forming Course. This course will allow those who have completed our Basics course and will introduce wheeling machine techniques.
This one day course 8am to 4.30pm.

Course Fees

Course fees are $390 including GST per course. On confirmation of your course date we will forward an invoice for payment.
Full payment must be received before the course to confirm your registration.
Shortly after receipt of your payment we will confirm date and what you need to provide for the course.
